Dr. Selçuk Gözcü stated that they successfully performed surgery on the area where there were fractures and slips in the vertebrae in the neck, and said, “During the examinations performed on the patient who applied to the emergency room as a result of a motorcycle accident, fractures and slips were detected in the spinal bones, which we call C5 and C6. There was also edema due to spinal cord injury. On neurological examination, the patient had partial loss of strength on the left side and could not move his right foot and arm at all. Following the examinations, neck traction was applied to the spinal cord for three days and respiratory monitoring was performed. The patient, whose condition was stable, was then taken into surgery. During the surgery, an intervention was made from the front of the neck. The fracture and dislocation area was fixed with screws and implants. The pressure on the nerve was removed. Edema occurred in the spinal nerve due to the pressure that occurred during the accident. Postoperative treatment was continued. After the surgery, the patient’s partial loss of strength on the left side was completely resolved, and although the partial loss of strength on the right side continues, he can move his hand and arm and eat on his own. “The next process will be physical therapy,” he said.
