Laser Epiduroscopy Method for Disc Herniation at İskenderun Gelişim Hospital

Epiduroscopy is considered to be the most recently developed and ideal method for cases of herniated disc, spinal stenosis and nerve compression that are not large enough to require microsurgery but cause persistent waist and leg pain. Additionally, patients who have previously had surgery in the lumbar region, but whose complaints have not resolved or decreased, also benefit from epiduroscopy. Because the adhesions in the patients are opened with epiduroscopy and the necessary drugs are given to the necessary areas, the negative effects of the surgery are eliminated.”

Epiduroscopy clarifies the diagnosis by providing detailed imaging and provides certainty regarding the patient’s current problems. Epiduroscopy takes approximately 30 minutes. Since only a flexible fiberoptic endoscope is used in epiduroscopy, there is almost no risk of nerve and vascular injury. “Four hours after the epiduroscopic intervention, the patient can walk and return to normal life,” he said.
